Overview of ACEmessage
Let take a brief tour of ACEmessage in action in a typical company organisation. We will see how ACEmessage provides a simple interface for a powerful and effective solution for instant network messaging. [Problem] Your corporate server IRIS needs to be taken down for hardware replacement. Users will receive an error if they try to run IRIS applications during this downtime. They will clog up your Helpdesk with unnecessary calls and generally slow the department down from dealing with real issues. [Objectives] Notify Logged in users of problems with IRIS. Explain to users what they need to do. Minimise the impact of ICT Support calls to your Help Centre. Notify users as soon as IRIS is available again. [Solution] First we will load up ACEmessage. Because IRIS is a domain wide application you simply select the DOMAIN as the target to receive the message. Our computers all have ACE Client installed so we will send the message via this method. We set a time out value of 2 hours (So the message will disappear after 2 hours). This stops the message being read when the problem may no longer be an issue. We then setup the message text as we want it to appear, we insert a picture to grab their attention. ACEmessage will now look like the below screenshot, click for a larger view. You then click the Send button and wait the few seconds for the message to distribute to your chosen target (All computers in the domain with ACE Client installed!).
