ACEmessage? [Top]
ACEmessage is a Windows application that can send message
distributions to users Desktops Instantly. It is designed especially where
urgent information is required to be delivered direct to computer
desktops. ACEmessage is a feature rich application which
allows feature rich messages, easy targeting, logging and previews of
messages sent. ACEmessage sends messages to ACE Clients (see
below).
Q. What is
ACE Client? [Top]
ACE Client is installed on your RECEIVING computers, it receives and
displays messages from ACEmessage. ACE Client runs silently on
the computer (As a service) and only burst into life when a message
is received. It then displays this direct to the desktop of
the current logged on user.
Q. Does
ACEmessage need to be installed on all my computers? [Top]
No, ACEmessage only needs to be installed when you want to SEND
messages. For example, a small IT department may only require one
computer with ACEmessage installing. They can then message
hundreds/thousands of computers using this single computer.
Q. Does ACE
Client need to be on my RECEIVING computers? [Top]
Yes, only computers which have ACE Client installed can receive
messages from ACEmessage.

Hardware/Software Requirements for ACEmessage? [Top]

hardware and software requirements. It also lists the
supported versions of Windows O/S.
Q. What are
the limits of the downloaded version? [Top]
- Your messages contain ‘Evaluation Version’ added to them.
- You have a traffic light icon on the main ACEmessage application
- 30 Day Evaluation Period
- Other then the above the product is fully functional.

the 30-day evaluation download? [Top]

Q. How does
the Activation process work for ACEmessage? [Top]
- You purchase your ACEmessage License(s) via your desired
ordering method.
- We process your order within 48 hours (Normally takes 3 hours)
- You receive an email with details on how to access your Activation
Code(s) (via internet)
The
Activation Code is locked to that specific computer for ACEmessage
Installs. For detailed information on Licensing and Activation
please see the chapter in the User Guide.
Q. Can I move a license from one computer to another? [Top]
Yes, simply login to our license server (Details provided upon
ordering) and you can manage and re-allocate your license to another
computer. You get your Activation Code instantly.
Q. How do I
install my ACE Client License Pack?
[Top]
When you purchase an ACE Client License Pack, you will be provided
with a Reference Number and an ACE Client License Key.
You simply input this information into the Client Licenses area of
the ACEmessage software. Your licenses are then instantly
available to use. See the User Guide
for further details.
Q. Does
ACEmessage/ACE Client work with Standard User Rights? [Top]
Yes, ACEmessage and ACE Client were designed to be fully compliant
with domain architecture. Therefore ACEmessage can run without
issue by standard users with domain access. Administrators
rights are only required for installation. You can also
control who can send messages via Active Directory and ACEmessage.
Q. What
logging features does ACEmessage have? [Top]
The logging features of ACEmessage are detailed and should be
suitable for most situations. All log information is written
to locally stored XML files on the computer. These log files
are then read by ACEmessage to display information.
Some clients write scripts to parse these XML files to make them
available via company Oracle or MS SQL databases.
Here is some of the information that logs keep for each message:
- Date, Time
- Targets of message (Single, Group target etc)
- Who sent the message (Username/Computer)
- Advanced Options Used
Log files can also be centrally located on servers if required.

an ACEmessage License? [Top]
An ACEmessage License allows you to install ACEmessage onto one
computer. ACEmessage is used to SEND messages. Therefore
you will need an ACEmessage License for each computer that SENDS
messages.
Q. What is
an ACE Client License Pack? [Top]
As most companies have lots of computers receiving messages (Using
ACE Client) we decided to create ACE Client License Packs.
Each ACE Client License Pack contains one hundred ACE Client
Licenses. Therefore one ACE Client License Pack allows you to
install ACE Client onto 100 computers. Work out your

Q. Do I need to purchase separate ACE Client License Packs for each
ACEmessage computer? [Top]
No, when you purchase an ACE Client License Pack you license 100
computers to have ACE Client installed. You can install your
ACE Client License Packs on ALL of your ACEmessage computers you
have licensed.

termixID and why do I need it? [Top]
A termixID is a unique code generated when ACEmessage is installed
onto a computer.
When you Activate your ACEmessage installation you need to provide
us with the termixID of the computer you wish to Activate.
When we generate your Activation Code it will only work with the
matching termixID.
termixID is our way of securing our software against piracy and
theft. For further details on TermixID's please see the
User Guide.
Q. Is
ACEmessage Active Directory compatible? [Top]
Yes, ACEmessage was designed around Active Directory as its
targeting backbone. Most parts of Active Directory can be
targeted. From User Groups to IP Sites. We also use
Active Directory to secure WHO can send messages. It can also
be used to control Authorised Message Sources which are white lists
of computers/users who are authorised to send messages. These
methods of Active Directory control allow you to control message
broadcasts across your organisation.
Q. How fast
is ACEmessage at sending messages? [Top]
ACEmessage and ACE Client can utilise Multicasting Technology
to send your message distribution. Therefore ALL clients
listening on this Multicast IP Address receive the information at
relatively the same time. Therefore message deployment is
almost instant, this is however dependent on your networking
infrastructure.
We
also have unicast message delivery available by default, which is
suitable for most companies.

Q. How does
ACEmessage work over a network? [Top]

introduction in more detail in the User
Guide for network administrators.
Q. What
support packages are available? [Top]
We do not offer any paid maintenance or support packages for
companies. We do provide free E-Mail support to all customers.
This is generally sufficient, we have a 24 hour turnaround time for
answering emails via our internal SLA's.
Q. Can I
message a whole domain? [Top]
Yes, you can easily message any part of Active Directory (or all of
it!).
Q. Can I
restrict who can SEND messages? [Top]
Yes, using ACEmessage and Active Directory you can specify (by User
or Computer account) who can launch ACEmessage across your network.
You can also use Active Directory with ACE Client to control
authorised message sources. See the
User Guide chapter on Security for more information on this.
Q. Can
ACEmessage be incorporated into scripting? [Top]
Yes, ACEmessage can be run from the command line. Therefore
any alerting programs which can trigger an application can work with
ACEmessage. This includes monitoring tools and scripts.
Q. What Port
is required, can I change it? [Top]
Please see our User Guide for details on
changing the default IP configuration.
Q. What
network traffic does ACEmessage and ACE Client generate? [Top]
All communication is done via Unicast by default (Multicasting is an
option which can be enabled). Using Multicast Message Delivery
the message distribution is sent ONCE over your network, and all the
clients read this same distribution. Therefore network
bandwidth is kept to a minimal.
Q. I run a
Domain Environment, is ACEmessage compatible? [Top]
Yes, ACEmessage can be run by a user with standard: Domain
Users credentials.
Q. Do you
have installers designed for mass deployment and installation? [Top]
Yes, we have installers available here
in MSI or EXE format which can be distributed using your chosen
desktop management software. ACEmessage and ACE Client can be
installed silently onto as many desktops as required.
Q. Does
ACEmessage or ACE Client require internet access to run? [Top]
No, neither ACEmessage or ACE Client will try to connect to ANY
internet based servers.
